About Me

Hello! My name is Melos Ambaye, and I’m a senior at Washington and Lee University, double majoring in journalism and American government with a minor in poverty and human capability studies. I've had the opportunity to work in various newsrooms across different beats, including reporting on politics in Washington, D.C., which has sharpened my journalistic skills and ability to deliver nuanced and informed reporting.
As an editorial intern at National Journal, I reported on Capitol Hill, covering stories from education policy to the 2024 presidential election. I also interned at Voice of America, where I reported on both international and domestic politics, tailoring my coverage for a global audience.
On campus, I’ve worked as the business and economic development reporter for the Rockbridge Report, diving into local stories that directly impact the community. I also serve as news editor for the Ring-tum Phi, our student-led newspaper, where I help guide our team of reporters to produce relevant and meaningful coverage.
